In parts of the world, the availability of women surpasses that of men. In some places, the gap is quite significant that experts refer to the phenomenon as “shortage” of men. For the ladies still in search of that special guy, those countries may not necessarily be the most desirable places to live. Meanwhile, they may be ideal for the fellas who appreciate options and less competition.

Before we jump into the list, let’s learn a little about the differences between men and women population worldwide. According to the United Nations’ 2015 The World’s Women Report, prepared every five years, there were 62 million more men than women in 2015, a result of “population growth” and ” a greater increase in the survival rate of men compared to women.” More male babies are born than females. However, “the slight male advantage in numbers at birth disappears progressively during childhood and young adulthood” as a result of higher mortality among men. Thus, for older generation between ages 60 and over, women outnumber men.

In most developing countries, men outnumber women; whereas the reverse is true for most developed countries. For both developed and developing countries, the six countries below reportedly have the highest shortages of men as of 2015. Keep in mind that there may be slight or large variation(s) in this list from when the last study was done. We will just have to wait anxiously until 2020 when a new one is released.
